Warren County Public Schools welcomed 69 new teachers to the system, and Front Royal on Thursday afternoon, August 3.  The luncheon meet and greet at Warren County High School was sponsored by the independent, local Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce. Randolph-Macon Academy also participated, welcoming several new staff members as well.

Principals from Warren County’s two high schools, two middle schools (as of Monday, July 31), and five elementary schools introduced new staff, each of whom was presented with a welcoming bag of materials assembled through contributions by a number of local businesses.  Prior to lunch, the new teachers were able to pick up materials and information at a number of sponsoring local business informational tables.  Also acknowledged were the public school system’s Blue Ridge Technical Center and specialized programs.

A quick survey indicated a majority of new teachers with roots in Pennsylvania (surprise); and the new teacher traveling the farthest to join the system, Catie Himmelright, who arrived from Utah.

Caitie Himmelright, the teacher coming the farthest to join the school system, displays her reward, a work of art.

Schools Superintendent Greg Drescher told this reporter that only 13 of the new teachers are headed to the new Warren County Middle School off Leach Run Parkway.  That is because eighth-grade teachers previously located at the two high schools will meet incoming eighth graders at the new school and the newly-renamed Skyline Middle School’s sixth and seventh-grade teachers will now be split between the two middle schools.

But you know what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words – so here comes the rest of a “10,248-word” story …

Always good to know where to find a friendly smile and some fast food – Roy Rogers was one sponsoring business.

Are we going to get bigger bags to carry all this in?

ATTENTION – Skyline Hawks have infiltrated the building …

I think there are more than 69 people eating – and I was one of them

We get flowers too?!!?

WCMS Principal Amy Gubler welcomes 13 new teachers to the new facility – but like she said Monday, we’ll all be ‘rookies’ here on Aug. 15 when school opens.
