Samuel Tilden Updike (1926 – 2024)

Samuel Tilden Updike, 97, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery, with Sammy Campbell officiating.

Mr. Updike was born on December 2, 1926, in Browntown, Virginia, to the late Fred and Pauline Matthews Updike. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Deavers Updike; brother, George Updike; and two sisters, Geraldine Mountjoy and Maxine Curry. He was a foreman for Northern Counties Lumber Company for many years and built many homes all around Northern Virginia and locally. He was a veteran of the United States Army in the Second Infantry.

Survivors include his nephew, Mike Mountjoy, and extended close family, Judy Hupman, Roxanne Campbell, and Kellie Campbell.

The family will receive friends at Maddox Funeral Home on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m.
