VDOT: Warren County Traffic Alert for October 7 – 11, 2024
The following is a list of highway work that may affect traffic in Warren County during the coming weeks. Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.
INTERSTATE 66
*NEW* Mile marker 1 to 2, eastbound – Right shoulder closures for litter pickup operations, 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday.
*NEW* Mile marker 10 to 9, westbound – Overnight alternating lane closures for maintenance to bridge over Shenandoah Shores Road, 8 p.m. to 12 noon nights through Thursday.
Mile marker 14 to 15, eastbound – Right shoulder closures for utility work, with possible daytime and nighttime work hours. Estimated completion November 1.
INTERSTATE 81

PRIMARY ROADS

SECONDARY ROADS
*NEW* Route 619 (Rivermont Drive) – Flagger traffic control between Route 340 (Stonewall Jackson Highway) and Route 679 (Catlett Mountain Road/South River Road) for inspection of bridge over South Fork Shenandoah River and railway, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
*NEW* Route 624 (Morgan Ford Road) – Closed between Route 643 (Howellsville Road) and Route 661 (Fairground Road) for debris removal at the bridge over Shenandoah River, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Follow the posted detour.
Route 647 (Dismal Hollow Road) – Flag and pilot truck traffic control between Route 624 (Happy Creek Road/Morgan Ford Road) and Route 55 (John Marshall Highway) for paving operations, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday.
Route 658 (Rockland Road) – Closed to through traffic between Route 340/522 (Winchester Road) and Route 705 (Fishnet Boulevard) for the construction of a bridge over Norfolk Southern Railway. Follow the posted detour. Estimated completion December 2025.
Vegetation management may take place district-wide on various routes. Motorists are reminded to use extreme caution when traveling through work zones.
