Waiting is Hard… Except When You’re Playing Games!

Published

on

Do you dread waiting at the doctor’s office, in the grocery line, at a restaurant, or even for your turn on the carousel? Waiting can feel like a drag, even when it’s just for a few minutes. That’s totally normal—nobody loves waiting!

But here’s a tip: You can make time fly by playing games with your family. Just remember to be mindful of those around you. Try these fun and quiet games to pass the time:

Guess the Sound
Close your eyes and listen carefully. Can you name the sounds around you? A ringing phone, a coffee machine, or maybe even a distant fire truck? Whoever identifies the most sounds wins!

I Spy
Choose an object in sight and say, “I spy with my little eye something…” Give a clue, like its color, and let your family ask yes-or-no questions to figure out what it is.

Draw on My Back
Take turns drawing simple shapes or pictures—like a heart, star, or smiley face—on someone’s back using your finger. The challenge is to guess what was drawn. It’s harder than it sounds!

Next time you’re stuck waiting, turn it into an opportunity for fun and connection. Who knew waiting could be this entertaining?
