Strasburg Man Arrested in Front Royal After Short Chase; Meth Found in Hotel Room

A man wanted on several charges was arrested on March 11 after deputies from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office found him hiding outside a hotel in Front Royal.

Deputies went to the DoubleTree Hotel on Hospitality Drive around 6:12 p.m. to arrest 32-year-old Mark Alen Shamron Castro of Strasburg. When they arrived, they saw Castro trying to hide in nearby bushes. He ran from the scene, but deputies chased him on foot and caught him in a wooded area close to the hotel. The arrest was made without further trouble.

After taking Castro into custody, deputies searched his hotel room. Inside, they discovered a digital scale, drug paraphernalia, and about 24 grams of a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Castro was taken to the Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren (RSW) Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond.

In addition to his previous outstanding charges, Castro is now also facing a new charge for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine under Virginia Code § 18.2-248.

The earlier charges include Failure to Appear in Court (§ 18.2-456(A)) and a Probation Violation (§ 18.2-306).
