When Being a Septic System Expert Is a Badge of Honor
It is being said that in a letter to the editor calling out the anti-Catholicism of another letter, Thomas McFadden “disrespected” Fork District candidate Hugh Henry by referring to him as a “septic system expert.” McFadden may have just been giving Mr. Henry credit for the expertise of which Mr. Henry boasts. When Mr. Henry launched his campaign in March at the Warren County Republican Committees’ (WCRC) monthly meeting, he made that expertise in septic systems the launch point of his campaign speech.
According to the draft minutes of that meeting circulated by the Secretary of the WCRC that summarized Mr. Henry’s speech:
“He went on to mention that a school at Bowling Green wanted to get permits for a building in the County. The initial assessment found that the septic was too old, and they were not going to get to use the building for the school year. He worked with Stephen White to solve the problem. He spoke to VDOT on behalf of the school. He contacted County staff and scrutinized the initial assessment of the septic, comparing it to other commercial uses. He asked what the school could do with it in its current state. In the end, the school could use the building and go back to capacity next year.”
If what Mr. Henry said he accomplished, he is a septic systems expert.
