Thomas Allen “Tommy” Dawson

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Sammy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Orlean Cemetery in Orlean, Virginia.

Tommy was born on March 28, 1966, in Front Royal, Virginia. He was the beloved son of Arch T. “Moat” Dawson and Mary Ellen Weaver Dawson.

Tommy was a hardworking and dedicated employee, spending over 30 years with the Auto Center and Gooney Creek Salvage of Front Royal. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout the years.

He had a true passion for NASCAR and football, rarely missing a race or a game. More than anything, Tommy cherished time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or simply enjoying each other’s company, those moments meant the most to him.

He is survived by his longtime partner of 25 years, Lawanda Fields; his children, Tifinie Martin of Front Royal, Deiana Carr of Augusta, West Virginia, and Elijah Williams of Luray, Virginia; four cherished grandchildren, Allison Martin, Nicholas Martin, Memphis Carr and Jameson Carr; and his cousins, who were like brothers to him, Keith Dawson of Middletown, Virginia, Gary Dawson of Cumberland, Maryland, and Kenneth Dawson of Fieldale, Virginia; as well as his loyal longtime best friend, whom he considered a brother, Mark Smoot of Front Royal, Virginia.

Tommy was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Arch Dawson and Mary Ellen Weaver Dawson, and a daughter, Trentity Williams.

Pallbearers will be Mark Smoot, Robert Martin, Ray Carter, Donald Grandstaff, Mike Porter, and Nathan Morris.

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Gooney Creek Salvage, the staff of the Auto Center, and Brandon Carr.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Tommy will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
