Maureen Cora (Cooper) Valdez (1942 – 2026)

Published

on

Maureen Cora (Cooper) Valdez went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Maureen Cora (Cooper) Valdez

Also known as Tillie or Mo, she is the devoted wife of Benjamin Valdez for 64 years, the loving mother of Raymond Valdez (Heidi), Gayle Sfreddo (David), and Jennifer Guizar (Steve), the proud grandmother of twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who are among the greatest joys of her life.

A graduate of Western High School in Washington, D.C., she later attended The Salvation Army School for Officers’ Training in Atlanta, graduating in 1969. She faithfully served as an Officer in Virginia, Mississippi, and Louisiana, then later worked as a government contractor with Raytheon.

Maureen was a faithful member of The Front Royal Church of the Nazarene.

She loved shopping, scrapbooking memories, enjoying sweets, and sharing her love for Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Arthur Cooper and Helen Nora (Rollison) Cooper, and her siblings, Raymond Arthur Cooper II, Marie Parker, Betty Bridges, and John Magnusson.

Though Maureen will be missed, we rejoice in the hope of a sweet reunion in heaven.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 2:30 pm, with a service to follow at 3:30 pm, all held at Front Royal Church of the Nazarene. Officiating will be Captain Ray Valdez, Pastor Steven Guizar, and Pastor Dick Guizar. A private graveside service will be held at Quantico National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Maureen to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, or Tunnels to Towers at t2t.org.
