Addressing Assumptions and Setting the Record Straight

On December 20, 2024, you published a letter from Ms. Christine Barber lamenting the fact that Donald Trump’s supporters “reject education and remain deliberately uninformed.”  She implies that we’re uneducated rubes, and she probably thinks that most supporters don’t even have a high school diploma. Ms. Barber, I have two Master’s Degrees, and my husband has one. I know plenty of Trump supporters with advanced degrees, but you probably think we all came out of Christendom. I assure you, we did not.

Secondly, she claims that “schools are closing.” I haven’t heard of any schools closing here or in surrounding counties. Perhaps she could have given an example of a school that has closed. She also claims that President Trump supports Project 2025. Just doing some cursory research would have shown her that she was incorrect.

She mentions that the Vape shops help fund our schools. She’s correct, but so isn’t every other business and taxpayer. Perhaps she enjoys driving into town and seeing that former bank looking like it was in some third-world country to greet the visitors who visit our fair town. I am not sure why she mentioned the Vape shops. Perhaps she’s a fan of the Vape shop lifestyle. I’m not, but to each his/her own.

Next, she gave us a history lesson about the Boston Tea Party and George Washington’s teeth. She then goes on to tutor us about tariffs and the fact that tomatoes and avocados do not grow here in VA in the wintertime. Wow, her lessons are timely because I’m sure she assumes we rubes do not know this.

Then, we were treated to a rehashing of the Samuels Library. About 18 months or so ago, I wrote a letter to the editor saying that parents need to police their own children and what they check out of the library.  Do you know what happened? I got doxed, and I had people coming up to my house and start giving me issues. I  guess she and they found it difficult that someone can have opinions the same as you AND be a Catholic.  They all asked me how I could go to such a church when everyone in that church wanted the library closed.  If it happens again, I’m calling the police because one person even knocked on my neighbor’s door and had her call me while I was at work.  Also, when you start throwing around the word “Nazi,” you have lost the argument.

She again goes to school us on the fact that Jesus was not a “white” man.  Everybody knows this, but, again, we are rubes, and we need Ms. Barber to remind us of that.

She believes that Front Royal will have an all-Democratic council because liberal, cosmopolitan city dwellers will buy up every house here. Part of me wants to know that if Ms. Barber finds it so confining here, why doesn’t she move to Loudon or Fairfax? You would probably be much happier with your own political kind.

Finally, she laments that no one in this town would take in the Holy Family on Christmas Eve. I wonder if she’s taking in any of the “new arrivals” into her home?  She should be taking in Jose, Maria & Baby Jesus to her home or some of those awesome young men who are wreaking havoc on this country because we have no idea who these people are.  There are terrorists, killers, rapists, etc., and we have no idea how many of them are even here.  Put your money where your mouth is, Ms. Barber, and show us rubes the way.

I do want to ask one more question: Who has been running the country for nearly the past four years? We know it’s not Joe. Is it Obama, Jilly, or Susan Rice? Just who is it?

I am sorry you’re so unhappy. When Biden won four years ago, I didn’t write a letter to the editor asking why you voted for him due to his diminished cognitive ability.

I truly hope that you find some peace in 2025. I truly hope so.
