MAGA Policies: A Choice That Hurts Americans Most
One of the most striking aspects of the MAGA movement is how openly its followers reject education and remain deliberately uninformed. Since Trump’s election, we’ve seen the consequences unfold across the country—a textbook example of “FAFO” (find out the hard way).
Schools are closing. Why? Because government funding is being stripped under MAGA leadership.
This isn’t a surprise—it’s a choice. Trump has repeatedly promoted Project 2025, which explicitly outlines plans to close government departments, including the Department of Education. Did MAGA supporters think there wouldn’t be consequences?
When funding is pulled from education, the impact is clear. Those “tobacco huts” some complain about? They actually help fund your children’s schools. Yet, with education on the chopping block, tax dollars will no longer serve students.
MAGA supporters seem to lack an understanding of basic American history. Let’s revisit the Boston Tea Party. What was it about? England profited by importing goods—like tea—from China to America and then taxed the colonists.
Sound familiar? MAGA’s economic plan involves heavy tariffs, like a 100% tax on goods from China and Mexico. Corporate America already outsourced jobs to those countries for cheap labor, leaving American workers behind. Now, MAGA’s solution is to double the cost of imported goods, driving up prices on cars, phones, medications, clothing, food, and even homes.
Think of your avocados and tomatoes—those don’t grow in Virginia in winter. Without affordable imports, the cost of living skyrockets. Trump himself admitted, “It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up.”
It’s no shock that Warren County is 70% Republican. Time and again, MAGA voters choose policies that harm themselves. Medicaid and Medicare? On the chopping block. What happens to senior citizens and children when healthcare disappears? Who cares? Apparently, not MAGA voters, who refuse to research the policies they support.
Take the Republican-led effort to close libraries. It reeks of censorship—reminiscent of Nazi book burnings. And speaking of education, let’s talk about George Washington’s dentures. Contrary to myths about wooden teeth, his dentures were made from teeth forcibly taken from enslaved people.
Now, think of Donald Trump: a man who profits by taking from others. His tax plan will increase taxes on the poorest Americans while the wealthy will pay even less. Yet, many MAGA supporters cheer him on, even as he hurts their own communities.
Warren County’s Republican dominance won’t last. With property being sold off and home prices rising, soon only wealthier outsiders—likely liberal city-dwellers—will afford to live here. In 10 years, the town council may very well be fully Democratic.
As Christmas approaches, reflect on the story of Mary and Joseph. If they knocked on your door today, would you offer them shelter? Given the racism, bigotry, and hatred many MAGA followers display, the answer is likely no.
And let’s remember: Jesus, Mary, and Joseph were not white. MAGA’s version of Christianity often ignores the core teachings of Jesus—compassion, humility, and love. The truth is, Jesus wouldn’t associate with the hateful rhetoric MAGA espouses.
It’s time to wake up. MAGA policies don’t make America great—they hurt the very people who support them.
