Alphonso Alberto Bennerson, Sr. (1930 – 2024)

Alphonso Alberto Bennerson, Sr., (93), fell asleep in death on March 17, 2024, at his home in Front Royal, Virginia. Alphonso, lovingly known as “Pop,” was born to Samuel and Mary Bennerson on November 21, 1930, in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. He enjoyed 50 years of marriage to the love of his life, Selma Louise Bennerson (Corner), until she died in 2005. Son Clifford Bennerson, daughter Celia Hamed (Seifuddin), and grandson Lamar predeceased him.

Surviving among the many whom he loved and who loved him in return are his sisters, Blanche Hamilton and Alice Hamm; his sons, Alphonso (Glenda) Bennerson, Jr. of Front Royal, Virginia; Gregory Bennerson of New York City; his grandchildren, Glen (Laura) Edwards, Germaine Bennerson, Noah Bennerson, Phoebe Bennerson, Kenneth Campbell, Louise Baptiste, Tiffany Baptiste, and Felicia (Kolby) NiBlack; and his four great-grandchildren, Akira Bennerson, Kairo NiBlack, Arianna Baptiste and Andy Metayer, as well as nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Front Royal Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
