Annual ALC Awards Banquet:
Youth Clubs, community Organizations and WCPS Students Win Awards for Recycling and Litter Clean-up Projects
REFERENCE: FR-WC Anti-Litter Council recently hosted their annual banquet to recognize the contributions and projects of local organizations and students who submitted applications for recycling and road clean-up projects.
On May 18, 2017 the Anti-Litter Council hosted a banquet and awards program at the Warren County Community Center to present cash awards to local community organizations, youth clubs and students from the public schools who submitted applications for projects and clean-up events they participated in though out the year.
The following awards were presented to teachers of students who participated: 1st place and $400 Skyline High School – Community Based Instruction class and teacher Sally Meredith, 2nd place and $300 was awarded to Ms. Post and Mrs. Moore’s Kindergarten class and Hilda J. Barbour Elementary school, and 3rd place went to Mrs. Stuart’s Graphic Design Class at Warren County High School.
The Community groups and youth club who were given awards are as follows:
In 1st place and $400 was 4-H Skyline Shooting Sports Youth Club – Fran Tamas, 2nd place and $300 was Izaak Walton League of Warren County – Dennis Mosher, 3rd place and $200 was Front Royal Kiwanis – Mike Waters, and Honorable Mention and $150 went to Knights of Columbus Council #7771 – William Luckey.

The Council extends congratulations to all participating students and organizations for a job well done in keeping the Town and County free of litter, trash and debris and the creative projects used to promote recycling and litter control. We also extend an invitation to all groups and schools to participate in the upcoming year, visit warrencountyrecycles.org to download the packet and application for entering your project or clean-up events.
These monetary donations are made possible through a grant to the ALC from the Office of Environmental Education of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality which promotes educational opportunities for the recycling, reusing, and reducing of litter and waste products in our everyday lives.
The Front Royal – Warren County Anti-Litter Council’s Mission is:
“To educate, motivate and participate in the prevention of litter and to assist the citizens of Front Royal and Warren County to become better stewards of our environment.”
