Assault at the Warren County Skate Park

On October 19, 2018 it was reported to the Front Royal Police Department that a male had sustained injuries from an assault at the Warren County Skate Park located on Kerfoot Avenue in Front Royal. Steven James Brown, 21-year-old Strasburg resident, advised that he was a victim of assault by several individuals and attempted robbery on October 09, 2018, which also involved a firearm.

Through the course of the investigation, two adults and one juvenile have been identified and arrested in connection with this incident. The adult males, Corey Smith and Connor Keane, and the juvenile suspect were all charged with § 18.2-26/18.2-58 – Attempts to commit noncapital felonies; Attempted Robbery and § 18.2-41 – Shooting, stabbing, etc., with intent to maim, kill, etc., by mob. Corey Smith was also charged with § 18.2-282 – Pointing, holding, or brandishing firearm in connection with this incident.

Both Smith and Keane are currently being held without bond at the Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren Regional Jail. The juvenile in this case is being held at the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester.
