Blue Ridge Point-to-Point Races Return Saturday at Woodley Farm

Published

on

One of the region’s most anticipated spring traditions returns this weekend as the Blue Ridge Point-to-Point Races take place Saturday, April 11, at Woodley Farm.

Gates open at 10 a.m., with the first race scheduled for 1 p.m., launching a full afternoon of National Steeplechase Association-sanctioned racing alongside family-friendly activities and countryside festivities.

Organizers say the event is designed to offer something for everyone, from seasoned racing fans to families looking for a relaxed day outdoors.

Attendees can expect a packed schedule that blends equestrian sport with community celebration. In addition to a full card of races, highlights include the Blue Ridge Hunt Foxhounds Parade, a carriage parade, and the Nantucket-Treweryn Beagle Parade.

New this year is the Foxhunter Race, adding another layer of excitement to the day’s lineup.

Younger guests will have their own spotlight during the popular Kid’s Stick Horse Race, scheduled for 2:15 p.m., part of a larger Kid’s Zone designed to keep families engaged throughout the afternoon.

Beyond the track, the event will feature an antique and exotic car cruise-in, tailgating areas, and a variety of food trucks arriving by 11 a.m. Organizers encourage guests to come early, settle in, and enjoy the full experience.

The races are set against the scenic backdrop of Woodley Farm, offering what many describe as a classic Virginia spring setting.

“Bring family and friends to enjoy a relaxing day at the beautiful Woodley Farm,” organizers said in a message ahead of the event.

Parking remains available for advance purchase online at blueridgeraces.org, with additional parking offered at the gate on race day. Guests are reminded to have their tickets ready upon arrival and to check their spam folders if they have not yet received them.

With favorable weather expected, organizers are anticipating a strong turnout.

The Blue Ridge Point-to-Point Races have long been a seasonal highlight in Clarke County, combining sport, tradition, and community in a single day.

Race Day Schedule:

  • 10 a.m. — Gates open, vendors arrive
  • 11 a.m. — Food trucks open
  • 1 p.m. — First race
  • 2:15 p.m. — Kid’s Stick Horse Race

  • 3:30 p.m. — Foxhunter Race (new)
  • 3:45 p.m. — Beagle Parade

Tickets are available in advance or at the gate.

For many, the event marks the unofficial start of spring in the Shenandoah Valley — a day where sport, tradition, and community come together in the open air.
