Catherine Thomas Graduates as Christendom Valedictorian and Most Decorated Athlete in School History

Published

on

Catherine Thomas, a standout student-athlete at Christendom College, graduated this week as the valedictorian of the Class of 2025, ending her time at the college with a legacy that is unmatched in both academics and athletics.

Thomas was honored during the college’s commencement ceremony, where she delivered the valedictory address. While her academic record earned her the top academic title in her class, her achievements on the court and field have also made her the most decorated athlete in Christendom’s history.

A dual-sport athlete, Thomas played basketball and soccer at Christendom, earning multiple national and conference honors in both sports. Her contributions helped lead the college to historic success, including national championship wins and appearances.

On the basketball court, Thomas was a key part of two United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II National Championship teams. She was named a USCAA All-American four times, received three all-conference honors, and earned the 2025 USCAA National Player of the Year award—marking a first in Christendom’s history. She also took home the 2025 ESAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year award.

Her basketball career statistics reflect her standout performance:

  • 2,311 points
  • 1,265 rebounds
  • 213 assists
  • 244 steals
  • 192 blocks

Thomas also left her mark on the soccer field. She helped lead Christendom’s women’s soccer team to a USCAA National Championship game appearance and was named an All-American twice. In 2024, she was recognized as the ESAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Year.

Her career totals in soccer include:

  • 45 goals
  • 30 assists
  • 120 points

Despite the demands of playing two sports at the collegiate level, Thomas maintained top academic performance. Her dedication to her studies earned her the highest academic honor in her graduating class.

“Catherine is the definition of a complete student-athlete,” said Christendom Athletic Director Patrick Quest. “Her achievements in competition are historic, but what sets her apart is the way she led—with humility, drive, perseverance, encouragement, and faith. She’s left a permanent mark on this college.”

As she graduates, Thomas leaves behind a legacy that includes two national championships, multiple All-American honors, and the distinction of being a top scholar. Her time at Christendom represents the college’s mission of forming students in mind, body, and spirit.

Her story is one of discipline, leadership, and balance—qualities that will continue to inspire future students at Christendom and beyond.
