Charles Ellsworth Bailey (1948 – 2025)

Published

on

Charles Ellsworth Baily was born on March 29, 1948, to the late Joseph Bailey and Bernice Bailey in Washington, D.C. He entered into his eternal home on August 20, 2025.

Charles grew up in Washington, D.C. He started his career working for DCPS for 10 years. He then transitioned his career to FCPS, and it was there that he retired after 35 years.

Charles, AKA Bill Aka Coochie, was loved by so many. He was a die-hard Redskins fan up until his last days. He watched the preseason game and said, “Don’t worry, we got this season”. He was dedicated to his family and friends. He was stern but also soft. His laugh was contagious. He would always keep a smile on your face. His word was bond.

Charles will join his parents and his siblings, Joseph, Laverne, and David. He is survived by his wife, Tangela Bailey; sisters, Catherine Harris and Patricia Bailey; children, Charles Bailey, Paul Bailey, Dorita Bailey, Christina Ernest, Daniel Gaitwood, Tiara Bailey, and Keara Bailey. Bill has 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins. Charles loved his daughters-in-law and sons-in-law.

Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

“Love leaves a memory.”
