Rooster attacks small child
CHESTERFIELD, Va. — A father says his 2-year-old daughter was attacked by a rooster at the Metro Richmond Zoo.
WWBT-TV reported (http://bit.ly/2fzW0CZ ) Monday that Charles Sherman reported that the incident occurred Friday while his daughter Chloe was visiting the zoo with her grandmother. Sherman says the rooster cut his daughter’s face, arms and stomach.
It’s unclear why the rooster attacked the child, who was taken to the hospital. Doctors reportedly told the father they were lucky the rooster didn’t reach her eye.
Zoo director Jim Andelin told WWBT that zoo staff immediately provided first aid to the child and removed the rooster, which has been relocated to a farm.
The zoo is home to over 2,000 animals.
