David Wayne Blankenship (1962 – 2024)

David Wayne Blankenship, 62, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Winchester Health and Rehabilitation surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Front Royal Fire Department on November 2, 2024, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. R. Mark Jordon officiating. The inurnment will be private.

David was born August 29, 1962, in Front Royal, Virginia, the son of the late Frank Harmon Blankenship, Sr. and Hazel Louise Layton Blankenship.

David was a volunteer firefighter for 46 years, serving the community of the Front Royal Fire Department Company 1, starting at 16 and making this his life-long career. He retired after 25 dedicated years at Dulles Airport. He was a Warren County High School graduate of the Class of 1980.

Surviving are two daughters, Raine L. Blankenship and Jessica Rima; two sons, David Wayne Blankenship, Jr. and Jonathan King-Blankenship; one brother, Frank H. Blankenship, Jr.; one sister, Patsy Blankenship Stern; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy Blankenship Holly.

Memorial contributions may made to the Front Royal Volunteer Fire Department, 221 North Commerce Ave., Front Royal, Virginia 22630.
