Downtown Front Royal’s ‘Spooky Saturday’ Among Other Events Continues Community’s Haunting Pre-Halloween Prep

Published

on

From the Warren Heritage Society’s week-plus “Haunted Front Royal” exploration of sites housing local ghostly legends and tales, to the October 23rd Jack O’ Lantern Jubilee co-hosted by the County Departments of Social Services and Parks & Recreation at the old Middle School 15th Street track and football field site, to the Saturday, October 25th duo of the Front Royal Airport’s “Great Pumpkin Drop” and the downtown business community’s “Spooky Saturday 2025” festivities throughout downtown Front Royal’s Historic Business District, it is obvious one day is NOT enough to house an annual celebration of ghosts, goblins, and who knows what else in this community.

As Halloween approaches this Friday, October 31st, Royal Examiner will take a pictorial exploration of these spooky, yet family-friendly gatherings. Here we will start with downtown Front Royal’s “Spookey Saturday”.

As the 4 p.m. late afternoon start of the scheduled two-hour “Spooky Saturday” visit to not only vendors, but downtown businesses, approached, we found this invite on the Town website:

“Step right up, ghouls and goblins of all ages! Get ready for a spooktacular day of fun at our annual “Spooky Saturday” on Main Street!

“Join us for a hauntingly good time filled with candy, costumes, and community spirit. Stroll down Main Street, where participating businesses will be ready to hand out sweet treats. Don’t forget to visit our community partners around the gazebo for even more goodies and surprises!

One costumed patron’s dog has decided to join in the costume fun. Below, the crowd explores E. Main St. businesses offering treats.

“It’s the perfect way to celebrate the season and make some boo-tiful memories with your family. We can’t wait to see your creative costumes! Happy trick-or-treating! {This is a trick-or-treating only event, so please bring a bag/bucket with you!}”

And on that note, we will proceed with our photo documentation of Downtown Front Royal’s “Spooky Saturday 2025”.

Uh oh, it appears one unsuspecting patron is being ghost stalked. And if it’s not ghosts, it’s a T-Rex here and there looking for a treat.

Is that a pair of undercover, disguised deputies flanking the WCSO booth? Below, a different kind of costume is photographed as a remembrance of the day. And kids not only trick-or-treated, but also helped man some of the treat tables.

That line keeps coming, because apparently, you can’t get enough of the vendor and partner TREAT booths that circled the Gazebo-anchored Park parking lot.

And what do you think you are, these kids may be asking the slightly taller costumed entity. And another angle on the vampire and werewolf fang-friendly welcoming sign.
