Celebrate Earth Day by joining us for a meaningful Sky Meadows State Park service project. Together, we’ll embark on a mission to safeguard our precious natural resources, ensuring they remain vibrant and thriving for generations to come. This event offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the environment by planting native trees along the scenic Boston Mill Road.

What We’ll Do:

  • Tree Planting: Assist in planting native trees to enrich the local ecosystem.
  • Education: Learn about the environmental factors impacting our forests, including how to identify and eliminate invasive vines that threaten native plants.
  • Conservation: Gain insights into preserving our native trees and their crucial role in our environment.

Who Can Join:
Everyone is welcome! Whether you’re a seasoned conservationist or a newcomer eager to learn, your participation is invaluable. This event is perfect for all ages, making it a fantastic family, friends, or solo outing.

What to Expect:

  • A rewarding 1 to 2-mile hike to and from the work site, starting from the Historic Area parking lot.
  • All necessary tools will be provided on-site.
  • A chance to deepen your understanding of forest ecosystems and personal impact on environmental conservation.

Please Remember to Bring:

  • Work gloves
  • Water bottle
  • Snacks (optional)
  • Bug spray
  • Sunscreen

Dress appropriately for the weather, and wear comfortable hiking shoes suitable for outdoor activities.

Parking:
There is a $10 fee per car for parking. This small contribution aids in the maintenance and preservation of Sky Meadows State Park.

For more information or to express your interest in participating, please contact us at SkyMeadows@dcr.virginia.gov or call 540-592-3556. Further details can also be found on our website.

Join us in making Earth Day 2024 a day of action and learning. Together, we can make a significant impact on the conservation and beautification of Sky Meadows. Your efforts will help ensure that future generations can enjoy our natural treasures. Let’s plant the seeds of change and celebrate the glory of nature together!
