Fauquier Health CEO Earns National Recognition for Second Straight Year

Fauquier Health Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Segal has once again earned national recognition for her leadership, being named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s “2026 Women Hospital CEOs to Know” list for the second consecutive year.

Rebecca Segal, CEO of Fauquier Health, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s “2026 Women Hospital CEOs to Know” list for the second consecutive year. The national recognition honors women leaders who are expanding access to care, improving quality, and strengthening healthcare organizations across the country.

The annual list recognizes 236 women presidents and chief executive officers from hospitals and health systems across the country. According to Becker’s Healthcare, this year’s honorees are being recognized for “driving growth, expanding access to care, and cultivating workplace cultures where providers and patients both thrived.”

Segal, who joined Fauquier Health in late 2022, has overseen several initiatives to improve patient care, expand services, and strengthen the organization’s workplace culture.

During her tenure, Fauquier Health has twice been named a Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group, making it the only hospital in Virginia to earn the distinction in consecutive years. Hospital officials also credit Segal with helping increase employee engagement scores by 30 percent while leading investments in new medical technology and expanding access to specialty care.

Among those investments is the addition of robotic-assisted technology for spine surgery and hip and knee replacement procedures. The health system has also added providers in primary care, gastroenterology, and urology to improve access for patients in the region.

“Our community is fortunate to have a leader like Becca at the helm of Fauquier Health,” said Ashley Smith, chair of the Fauquier Health Board of Trustees. “We have a hospital and healthcare system here that provides exceptional quality care and employs remarkable people who strive every day to improve the health of our residents. Fauquier Health has received numerous national accolades over the last few years — this recognition of Becca’s leadership is well-deserved.”

A Virginia native, Segal brings more than a decade of hospital leadership experience to the role. She said leading a community hospital carries a unique responsibility because caregivers often serve people they know personally.

“Being a community hospital often means we are caring for our neighbors, friends, and even family, so it just means more,” Segal said. “Providing the best quality care is the single most important thing we do here, and it takes a team that dedicates itself every day to being the best.”

This is not the first time Segal has been recognized by Becker’s Healthcare. In 2017, she was named to the publication’s “Rising Stars: 60 Healthcare Leaders Under 40” list.

Fauquier Health is a community health system that includes a 97-bed acute care hospital, The Villa at Suffield Meadows assisted living facility, and multiple physician practices offering primary and specialty care. The organization is accredited by The Joint Commission and has earned several national recognitions, including Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care, designation as a Certified Primary Stroke Center, a Center of Excellence for Joint Replacement, and an accredited Chest Pain Center.
