A former employee of the Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren (RSW) Regional Jail is facing serious charges after an investigation revealed he allegedly smuggled drugs into the facility. Brady D. Neary, 21, of Strasburg, Virginia, has been charged with two felonies: delivery of drugs to prisoners and bribery within a correctional facility.

The investigation began on December 31, 2024, when the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) received an anonymous tip via its Citizen Connect reporting link. In coordination with RSW Regional Jail officials, investigators quickly identified Neary as the suspect.

Authorities allege that Neary smuggled controlled substances into the jail in exchange for an undisclosed sum of money. He was arrested, brought before a magistrate, and ordered held without bond. Neary has since been transferred to the Northwest Regional Adult Detention Center (NRADC).

Neary, who had been employed at RSW Regional Jail for approximately five months, is no longer employed there. His court date is January 21, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in the Warren County General District Court.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials urge anyone with additional information to come forward. Individuals can contact Criminal Investigations Sergeant M.R. Ramey at (540) 635-7100 or mramey@warrencountysheriff.org.

These charges are serious offenses under Virginia law. Delivery of drugs to prisoners and bribery within a correctional facility, outlined in §§ 18.2-474.1 and 18.2-474.2 of the Virginia Code, carry significant penalties upon conviction.

This case highlights the vigilance required to maintain the integrity and security of correctional facilities. RSW Regional Jail and WCSO continue to prevent illegal activity and maintain public trust.
