WINCHESTER — A 17-year-old male from Front Royal has being charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, reckless handling of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm by a juvenile following an incident in Winchester that occurred early Thursday morning.

Sgt. Frank Myrtle, of the Winchester Police Department, said officers responded at about 12:05 a.m. Thursday to a report of shots fired in the 900 Block of North Braddock Street.

Evidence uncovered following a search of the home resulted in officers taking the teenager into custody.  The male was transported to Juvenile Intake.

Sgt. Myrtle said in a written statement that there were other occupants inside the residence when the weapon was fired, however no injuries were reported.

A stolen weapon was recovered in this incident, police say; the case remains under investigation.  Anyone with information regarding the incident may contact the Winchester Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 540-545-4704, or Crime Solvers at (540) 665-TIPS (8477).
