Helen Virginia Smoot (1939 – 2026)

Helen Virginia Smoot, 95, of Luray, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 3, at 2:30 p.m. at Washington Masonic Cemetery with Pastor Danny Herring and Sammy Campbell officiating.

Mrs. Smoot was born June 28, 1939, in Washington, Virginia, the daughter of the late Jacob Edward and Annie Belle Wright Smoot.

She was an employee of Aileen, Inc. for thirty years.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne Smoot and wife Shirley of Luray, and Craig Smoot and companion Diane of Frederick, Maryland; three grandchildren, Chris Smoot, Todd Smoot, and Naomi Evans; three great-grandchildren, Chrissy, Maddie, and Dalton; and four great-great-grandchildren, Alana, Chloe, Grayson, and Ava.

Mrs. Smoot was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy O. Smoot; three brothers, James, Carl, and Jake; and three sisters, Della, Reba, and Anna.

Pallbearers will be Craig Smoot, Chris Smoot, Todd Smoot, Naomi Evans, Chrissy Stephen, Maddie Smoot, and Dalton Smoot.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 3, from 1-2 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.
