Henry Clay Sommers (1937 – 2024)

Henry Clay Sommers, 87, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, in his home.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W Main St. Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating. There will be a visitation one hour before the service.

Henry was born on May 27, 1937, in Clarke County, Virginia, to the late Charles William and Ethel May Sowers Sommers. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Leon Sommers, Sr. and Grover Lee Sommers, Sr.

Henry is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Faye Campbell of Front Royal; his granddaughters, Jordan Campbell and Savannah Rutherford, both of Front Royal; his grandson, Brandon Potter of Front Royal; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Henry was a cattle farmer for 70+ years. He loved raising livestock, caring for animals, and fishing in his spare time. He was involved in 4-H and a huge supporter of the livestock industry.
