Improve Your Commute with RideSmart

Published

on

In the bustling northwest corner of Virginia, an innovative solution is making daily commutes easier and more affordable. RideSmart, a free service run by the Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Commission (NSVRC), is here to help residents, workers, commuters, and tourists in Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, Warren counties, and the City of Winchester.

Connecting Commuters for a Smarter Commute

RideSmart partners with Commuter Connections, an initiative of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG). This collaboration offers a free ride-matching service that connects people with similar schedules and travel patterns. Whether you’re commuting to work or exploring the region, RideSmart can help you find a carpool buddy, vanpool, or other public transit options.

Save Time, Money, and Earn Rewards

Imagine saving time, money, and the environment with a single program. RideSmart makes this possible. By partnering with the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) and the ConnectingVA program, RideSmart provides comprehensive ride-matching services. These include information on carpools, vanpools, public transportation, trip planning, park-and-ride lots, bike-share services, and even electric vehicle charging stations. Plus, you can earn rewards for your eco-friendly commuting choices.

Guaranteed Ride Home Program

One of RideSmart’s standout features is the Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) program, available to commuters registered with Commuter Connections. Life is unpredictable; sometimes, emergencies arise that require an unexpected trip home. The GRH program offers a reliable and free ride home up to six times a year for those who carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, or take transit to work at least twice a week. It’s a comforting backup plan for your commute.

Visualize Your Savings

Commuting can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. RideSmart’s services can help you get a detailed look at your current commuting costs and discover how much you could save. Carpooling and vanpooling are hassle-free and cost-effective, helping you make the most of your commuting budget.
