Jane Angus White (1924 – 2025)
Jane Angus White, 100, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025 at Westminster Canterbury in Winchester, Virginia.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Episcopal Church on April 28 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Valerie Hayes officiating.
Jane was born September 8, 1924, in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of Thomas Lee Angus and Dorothy Treece Angus. After her father’s death, her mother remarried Colonial Samuel Rolfe Millar, Jr. of Front Royal, or “Daddy Rolfe,” to Jane.
Jane attended Warren County High School and then graduated from Stuart Hall in Staunton, Virginia. She received her BA from Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC.
Jane taught elementary school in Florida for one year and then returned to Front Royal. Jane married John Downing White, “J.D.”, an active-duty Naval Officer, on December 13, 1947, at Calvary Episcopal Church. After many tours including the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Norfolk, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Charleston, S.C., Quonset Point, R.I.. three children and her husband’s retirement from the Navy, they returned to Front Royal, Virginia, in 1964. Jane taught school at several places where they resided and then taught in Warren County Public schools until 1976.
Jane was a devoted member of Calvary Episcopal Church. She was Chairman of an Altar Guild Group for over 30 years and was an accomplished flower arranger. She was a member of The Garden Club of Warren County for over 50 years and enjoyed the many friends she made. Jane was a member of The Ladies Auxiliary of Warren Memorial Hospital and the Docent Guild of Belle Grove Plantation. She belonged to theAmerican Cancer Society of Warren County, Warren Heritage Society, and the Blue Ridge Arts Council. She volunteered at Samuels Library, which was located on Chester Street. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining, and people.
Jane was preceded in death by J.D. White, her husband of over 60 years.
Surviving Jane is her son, Rolfe and Sally White of Richmond, daughters Diane and Tom Fechtel, of Staunton, and Corinne and Ron Llewellyn, of Front Royal. Grandchildren include Andi Llewellyn Pollard (Matt), Katie White Palmore (Jeff), Brian White (Laurin), Mark Fecthel (Anne) and Blake Fechtel. Great Grandchildren are Claire Pollard, Graham Pollard, Landon Palmore, Carter Palmore, Tucker White, Sanders White, Jane Fechtel, Luke Fechtel, and Jack Fechtel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Calvary Episopal Church or Samuels Library.
