Kathy “Irene” Farrell
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W Main Street, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating. The family invites guests to visit one hour prior to the service. Following all services, the burial will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Irene was born on December 15, 1952, to the late Eric Hjalmar and Florence Jacquelin Charles Petterson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Patrick Farrell; her daughter, Katherine Marie Farrell; her brother, Eric Petterson Jr.; and her sister, Christine MacCulley.
Surviving Irene are her loving children, Chris Farrell (Dawn), and Michele Sayers (Bill); her sister, Charlene Hunt; her grandchildren, April Sayers, Miranda Sayers, Faith Farrell, Emily Farrell, Aaron Farrell, and William Farrell; her best friend, Lucy Beaty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Irene was a member of the Front Royal- Warren County Fraternal Order of the Police Auxiliary Lodge 33. She and her late husband had become realtors and started a construction company to help young couples build affordable homes within their budgets and dreams. She had continued with real estate after he passed, but it wasn’t her dream. She moved on and became a Title Examiner with Service Title, then with TLC Settlements, alongside her best friend, Lucy. When she had to give it up due to health issues, she enjoyed her time with her grandkids. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and working puzzles while it was cold outside. As spring rolled around, you would find her working in her yard, or sitting on her porch, enjoying her plants and flowers that she often picked up from the floors of garden centers and “brought them back from the dead”. She enjoyed going out to yard sales with her best friend or family. She often went to the Warren County Senior Center and enjoyed her time meeting new friends there. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.
Pallbearers will be Stuart Kuser and members of the Front Royal-Warren County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 33: Ronnie Williamson, Eddie Long, Richard Kurzenknabe, and Norman Shifflet.
In lieu of flowers, the Family asks that donations be made to https://soldiersangels.org/ways-to-give/ in honor of Irene’s care for veterans, as well as for those deployed with her granddaughter, whom she carefully curated care packages for with tons of love!
