Linda Ann Bell (1952 – 2024)

Linda Ann Bell, 72, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, surrounded by loving family at her home in Front Royal, Virginia. She was born on December 28, 1952, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.

Linda served as a teacher in California’s Ontario-Montclair School District for 21 years. She earned her BA from San Diego State University in Liberal Studies (Education) and her MA in Educational Administration from National University.  During her teaching tenure, she touched countless lives as an AVID Program teacher, union representative, master teacher, summer school administrator, and basketball coach. She was active in the California Retired Teachers Association (CalRTA) after retirement. She was a passionate professional and leader, always advocating for her students, their families, and their colleagues.

In addition to her teaching career, Linda held varied professional roles, including accountant, psychiatric hospital aide, electronics manufacturing technician, and cosmetologist.

Linda was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and aunt. She enjoyed participating in all aspects of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, especially attending Randolph-Macon Academy events and volunteering as a scouting leader, team mom, and catechism teacher. She was proud to be Caleb and Bea’s beloved “Grammy.”

Linda was a member of Rockland Community Church, where she was recently named a deacon. She was lovingly embraced by her RCC family and Pastor Bill’s stewardship.

Linda is preceded in death by her late husband, Thomas Volciak, her mother, Anna Patricia Gallagher Winters, and her brother, John Bove.

Linda is survived by her husband of 39 years, Frank Bell of Fontana, California; son, Thomas Anthony Bell (Meagan) of Seattle, Washington; daughter, Valerie Wilson of Front Royal; sister, Colleen “Elly” Helton (Andrew) of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Caleb Kelton Wilson of Front Royal and Beatrice Anna Bell of Seattle; nephew, Will Jacob Helton and nieces, Grace Anna Helton and Ashley Bove.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Rockland Community Church, 2921 Rockland Road, Front Royal, with Pastor Bill Orndoff officiating.

Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
