A Linden woman has been arrested and charged after a man was found with a gunshot wound inside a Warren County home Monday night, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to a residence in the 100 block of Wild Cherry Way at about 8:41 p.m. on Aug. 3 after receiving a report that an adult man had been shot.

When deputies arrived, they found the injured man inside a bedroom. Warren County Fire and Rescue Services personnel provided initial treatment before the victim was flown to Winchester Medical Center.

The man was listed in serious but stable condition, according to the sheriff’s office. His identity has not been released.

Elizabeth R. Valade Address: Linden, VA Offenses: • § 18.2-51.2. Aggravated Malicious Wounding • § 18.2-53.1. Use or Display of a Firearm in Committing a Felony • § 18.2-56.1. Reckless Handling of a Firearm

As the investigation continued, detectives with the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigations Division identified 45-year-old Elizabeth R. Valade of Linden as the person accused of shooting the victim.

Investigators said evidence gathered during the case established probable cause for her arrest. Valade was taken into custody without incident.

She has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use or display of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm.

Valade was transported to the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail. After appearing before a magistrate, she was ordered held without bond.

She is scheduled to appear in Warren County General District Court at 10 a.m. on Aug. 25.

The sheriff’s office said the shooting appears to have been an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The investigation remains active. Authorities said no additional information would be released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the case.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Lt. M.R. Ramey of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 540-635-7100 or by email at mramey@warrencountysheriff.org.
