Marie Annette (Frye) Veney, 75, of Luray, Virginia, passed away on July 3 at Shalom Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Virginia, following a brief illness.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred (Travis) Frye, Otis Frye, Sr., and her beloved husband of over 50 years, Harry E. Veney, Sr.

Marie Annette (Frye) Veney

Annette nurtured and loved her three children, Candace Veney-Chaplin (Christopher) of Richmond, Harry E. Veney, Jr. (Olympia) of Front Royal, and Jessica Veney of Richmond.  She cherished her five grandchildren: Brooke Slye, Ariel Veney, Jacob Chaplin, Sheridan Chaplin, and Jayden Whitehead. She held dear her surviving siblings, Gloria Teresa Carter (Samuel-deceased) of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Otis Frye, Jr.  (Cassandra) of Stephens City, Kwasi Frye (Sandra) of Glenn Dale, Maryland, Eric Frye of Richmond, and Lisa Peacemaker of Richmond, as well as her sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce Johnson, Barbara Veney and Aubrey Veney (Ruth) of Luray and Nina Veney of Newport News. She thought the world of her nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, and she considered her church family and pastor her true brothers and sisters in Christ.  She was held in high esteem and will be missed by many.

Annette was a virtuous woman committed to embodying Christian ethics daily.  She volunteered at community events, such as the annual Back to School Bash and the Thanksgiving Celebrations at the American Legion. As a woman of faith, she lived to serve the Lord and be an example to the world, graciously encouraging others toward salvation. Even amid pain and strife, she raised her hands in anointed praise.

A visitation will be held at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, Virginia, from 6-8 pm on July 11, 2024. Her brother, Pastor Otis Frye, will officiate the funeral at Riverton United Methodist Church in Front Royal on July 12, 2024, at 1 p.m. Interment at Good Hope Cemetery will follow. All who loved her are welcome.
