Published

on

The American Legion Community Band of Front Royal, Va. is proud to present a night of traditional and contemporary Christmas music at our annual Christmas Concert on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 at 7:30 pm in Boggs Chapel on the R-MA campus in Front Royal, Va.

This will be the American Legion Community Band’s 31st annual Christmas concert in Front Royal, Va. and we hope you and your family will join us. We’ll be collecting a love offering for the local C-CAP, a social services organization that has provided needy families in Front Royal and Warren County a “safety-net” of emergency food, clothing and financial assistance since 1978.

The American Legion Community Band, located in Front Royal, Va, was formed in 1986 and has been playing concerts in the area ever since. The conductors and band members are all volunteer musicians from the local area and new members are always welcome.

Front Royal is located in the northwestern corner of Virginia, 70 miles west of Washington, D.C., and is one of the many towns in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Some of its tourist attractions include Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, the Shenandoah River and Skyline Caverns. Front Royal is also home to Randolph-Macon Academy, a college-preparatory, coeducational day and boarding school for students in grades 6 through 12.

The band performs at a variety of concerts and community festivals throughout the year. All performances are free and open to the public. Our repertoire is both versatile and traditional with works ranging from classical to popular, marches and operatic overtures to modern works for band. The band is sponsored by the Giles B. Cook Post #53 of the American Legion.

The conductors are Ed RichardsRonald Dye and Mark Malechek. All rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 7:30 – 9:00 pm in the Fulton Fine Arts Complex bandroom at Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, Va. Anyone who plays an instrument and would like to join is welcome to attend. The American Legion Community Band’s performance season extends from September through July each year with public performances both indoors and out.
