Overnight closures on Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) at I66 for bridge construction tonight into next week

FAIRFAX – Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) will be closed in both directions at I-66 nightly between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. beginning August 14 into the following week, so construction crews can lift bridge beams into place for the new Sudley Road collector-distributor road along westbound I-66. Additionally, the ramp from I-66 West to southbound Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) will be closed. Detours will be posted.

Details include:

Northbound and Southbound Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) at I-66
Wednesday, August 14
Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17
Monday, August 19, through Saturday, August 24 (includes ‘rain dates’ in case of inclement weather or other delays)


Closure of both northbound and southbound Sudley Road at I-66 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
• DETOUR: Northbound Sudley Road traffic will be detoured to I-66 East to Route 29 South in Centreville. Make a left at the traffic signal, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 234 North.
• DETOUR: Southbound Sudley Road traffic will be detoured to I-66 West to the exit for Route 29 North in Gainesville. Make a left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, stay to the right for I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 234 Business South.


Closure of the ramp from I-66 West to southbound Sudley Road between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
• DETOUR: I-66 West traffic heading to southbound Sudley Road will be detoured farther west to the exit for Route 29 North in Gainesville, make a left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, stay to the right for I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 234 Business South.

In addition to the closures above, the left lane of southbound Sudley Road will be closed from Battleview Parkway to I-66 through 9 a.m., Sunday, August 25, or until work is complete and the crane is removed.
