Phillip Ray Knight (1953 – 2026)

Phillip Ray Knight, 73, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 1:30 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. There will be no graveside service. There will be a Celebration of Life immediately following the funeral service at Front Royal Moose Lodge, 1340 John Marshall Hwy, Front Royal.

Phillip was born on May 1, 1953, in Arlington, Virginia, to the late William Harrison Knight and Helen Magretta Jenkins Figgins. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ray Allen Knight Sr., and grandson, Brayden Turnmeyer.

Phillip leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Pearl Knight; three daughters, Angela Knight (Jeremy), Crystal Turnmeyer (Barry) and Amanda Moutogiannis (Sam); sister, Phyllis Spence; and six grandchildren, Britlyn, Kadence, Tyler, Carter, Zeke and Niko.

Phillip was a man of few words, but his silence spoke loudly. He was funny, hardworking, loving, generous, and always a perfectionist. To know Phillip was to know a man who could make you laugh, shake your head, and sometimes do both at the same time. He had a personality all his own, and there will never be another quite like him.

Phillip loved his family deeply. He cherished his time with Pearl, whether they were going to the casino or enjoying Sunday lunches surrounded by his children and grandchildren. For many years, he enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, and fiddling in the garage. He was a devoted dad, Pop-Pop, and friend. His greatest legacy isn’t something that could be measured – it is the love he gave, the lessons he taught, the stories he left behind, and the countless memories that will continue to bring us comfort.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor Phillip’s memory by doing something kind – help a neighbor, mow someone’s lawn, give someone who is struggling a helping hand – do it quietly, do it from the heart without expecting anything in return, just as Phillip did.
