Preston Donald “Don” Henderson (1948 – 2025)

Preston Donald “Don” Henderson, 77, of Gore, VA, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at his home.  Don was born on October 5, 1948, in Piney River, VA, the son of the late Preston William and Ina Lee Cox Henderson.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, earned a master’s degree in music education from James Madison University, served as an assistant manager at Capon Valley Bank, and was a longtime member of Marlow Heights Baptist Church, where he served as the church organist for 40 years.  He enjoyed both music and working in his yard.  Don married Susan Catlett Henderson on April 21, 197,9, in Winchester, VA.

Surviving with his wife of 46 years are their son, Eric Wesley Henderson of Gore, VA.; daughter, Laura Beth Hawkins (Brian) of Stephens City, VA.; sister, Dorothy Jenkins; and granddaughter, Brooke Drake.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Marlow Heights Baptist Church in Front Royal, VA, at 10:00 am.  Officiating will be Pastor Jim Bunce.  Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s memory to Marlow Heights Baptist Church.
