Rita June Magnotti (1932 – 2025)

Rita June Magnotti passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, in Winchester, Virginia. Rita was born on June 17, 1932, in Black Creek Township in Luzerne County, PA. She grew up in Fern Glen, PA, as one of 9 children born to her late father, Samuel Boyd Ulshafer, and mother, Mary Elizabeth Ulshafer (Koritko). After graduating from High School, she went into the Air Force and served in England for a few years. In 1953, she left the Air Force as an Airwoman Second Class and was married in England to Ralph A. Magnotti, who was also in the Air Force. They were married for 25 years before divorcing.

She became a certified Beautician and worked at that for several years. She ended up in Front Royal, Virginia, for the last 30 + years of her life before moving to a nursing home. She loved spending time with her family, especially her sisters and their kids, as well as her own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Rita enjoyed reading, cooking, crocheting, and many outside activities, especially taking long walks in parks and with her grandchildren, who called her “Grammy”. She mowed her own grass until she was in her mid-80s and was fiercely independent.

Rita is survived by her children, Michael Magnotti of Springfield, VA, Ralph Magnotti Jr. of Williamsburg, VA, John Magnotti III of Front Royal, VA, and Robert Magnotti of Newport News, VA.

Michael’s wife Theresa and their children: Rita’s granddaughter Bettina and great granddaughter Elyssya of Los Angeles, CA; grandson Michael Magnotti (wife Kimily) of Centreville, VA;  granddaughter Jessica Magnotti (fiancé Chris Johnson) of Houston, TX;  grandson David Magnotti (wife Alex) and great grandson Leo of Fairfax, VA.

John’s wife Valerie and Rita’s granddaughter Heather Magnotti (husband Dan Walters), and great grandson Hayden Magnotti Walters of Stephens City VA; grandson John Magnotti IV  (wife Jennifer Magnotti) and great grandsons John Magnotti V, Christopher Magnotti and Oliver Magnotti of Downingtown PA; granddaughter Lauryl Magnotti of Winchester VA; granddaughter Leanna Muthiah (husband Annamalai Muthiah), and great grandsons Silas Muthiah and Reed Muthiah of Stephens City VA; and grandson Justin Magnotti of Reston VA.

Robert’s wife, Bryn, Rita’s granddaughter, Sophie Magnotti, and great granddaughter, November of Williamsburg, VA, and grandson, Avery Magnotti of Newport News, VA.

Services for Rita will be private.
