On September 7th Gregg’s Tackle Shop at Lake Frederick hosted the Kids Fishing Day, a free event that brought kids out to Lake Frederick and taught them how to fish. Sheriff Lenny Millholland and Deputy AJ Kendra came down from Frederick county to take part in the fun.
“We always get so many adults out here fishing,” commented Gregg Sanner, owner and proprietor of the Tackle Shop, “So we wanted to host an event for any kids who wanted to learn how to fish.” With Gregg’sTackle Shop hosting the event, other local companies came together to make the great day of fishing happen. Gregg’s daughter, Ashley, a manager at Cracker Barrel, supplied gift certificates for free lunches, Firenza Pizza Shop donated pizza, Jake’s Bait and Tackle Shop donated fish bait, and the regular fisher’s who frequented the Lake brought bass boats, all for the sake of giving the kids a fun lesson in fishing.

The event was a total success with 22 kids coming out with their families for the afternoon. After a few wholesome hours of fishing and some lessons provided by the Tackle Shop, the kids started to make some great catches. Here are just a few of the beautiful fish caught by Lake Frederick’s new novice fishers.
