Children’s area in memory of John Wimmer
In 2017 Joyce Jenkins-Wimmer generously donated fifteen thousand dollars to the Children’s department of Samuels Public Library. She loved the idea of renovating the well-loved play area in use since 2009.
Joyce donated these funds in memory of her late husband John S. Wimmer. John S. Wimmer enjoyed feeding the deer that came into their yard. In honor of that the area has a beautiful deer peeking out from behind a tree. This image greets children when they first walk into the area.
Children are often found playing in the room both before and after one of the library’s many programs. Parents that visit the “new” play area often comment on how special the environment is. It’s remarkable to see the joyous smiles on the faces of all the children that explore and make memories in the delightful space. The library and community will be grateful for Mrs. Jenkins-Wimmer’s generosity for years to come.
Recently the Friends of Samuels Public Library donated an additional two-thousand dollars in order to add more toys and furnishings to our beloved space!
Thanks to all who serve the community through volunteering and working at our fabulous local library!
