Each year in Warren County we are blessed with a unique event as nature in our area begins to wake up and come alive for Spring. We have special flowers that bloom and attract visitors from all around! Trilliums! Beth and I were fortunate enough to be at Fox Meadow Winery yesterday and got the inside scoop that NOW is the time to explore and catch them in action! Here is some footage from our exploration of Blue Mountain and the G R Thompson State Wildlife Management Area!
For more detailed information, click the following links about Trillium. Learn where to find them and facts about the plant. As of today (4/25) they are in the very light pink stage on the top of the mountain. Further down the mountain we found some that were a darker purple.

“One form of the plant, T. grandiflorum f. roseum, opens with light pink petals instead of the common white. It is generally found very rarely throughout the range, but in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia is can be found somewhat frequently in mixed or sometimes pure colonies.[6] It should be noted that the white flowers of the common pure white variety of T. grandiflorum turn a very distinctive pink and remain so for several days just prior to the wilting of the flowers. Plants bearing these pink flowers are often mistaken for a “pink variety” of trillium.”[9] – wikipedia.com
