VDOT: Warren County Traffic Alert for October 27 – 31, 2025

The following is a list of highway work that may impact traffic in Warren County during the upcoming weeks. Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supply issues. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

INTERSTATE 66

*NEW* Mile marker 0 to 1, eastbound – Left shoulder closures on the ramp from I-81 to I-66 eastbound for sign work, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

Mile marker 0 to 14, eastbound and westbound – Single-lane closures for maintenance of various bridges, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. eastbound and 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. westbound. Estimated completion Oct. 31.

Mile marker 0 to 15, eastbound – Mobile shoulder closures for utility work, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Oct. 30.

*UPDATE* Mile marker 2 to 0, westbound – Shoulder closures for road work related to I-81 southbound widening, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Jan. 9.

*NEW* Mile marker 7 to 15, eastbound – Right shoulder closures for sign work, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

Mile marker 11 to 12, eastbound – Right shoulder closures for bridge painting, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 25.

*NEW* Mile marker 14 to 13, westbound – Right shoulder closures for sign work, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

 

INTERSTATE 81

Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Overnight single-lane closures southbound, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Jan. 9. Northbound and southbound shoulder closures 24/7. Shoulder closures 24/7. Traffic restrictions are related to I-81 widening project.

*NEW* Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound – Right shoulder closure for sign work, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

Mile marker 300 to 299, southbound – Overnight single lane closures for paving operations, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through the night of Oct. 30.

 

PRIMARY ROADS

Route 340/522 (North Shenandoah Avenue) – Single-lane closures just north of Front Royal town limits for bridge inspection over the railway and the South Fork Shenandoah River, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.

 

SECONDARY ROADS

No lane closures reported.

Vegetation management may take place district-wide on various routes. VDOT reminds motorists to use extreme caution when traveling through work zones.
