Warren County Fire and Rescue Respond to Linked Incidents: Suspect in Fatal Woodstock Attack Severely Burned

Published

on

On the morning of Friday, October 11, 2024, Warren County, Virginia, saw two alarming incidents that authorities quickly connected. At approximately 6:05 AM, Warren County Fire and Rescue responded to a call about an injured individual in the 1400 block of Ashby Station Road. Within minutes, the Emergency Communications Center received reports of a vehicle fire in the 2600 block of the same road.

Firefighters, emergency medical services, and Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies rushed to both scenes. Deputies soon discovered that the two events were not isolated. The injured person and the burning vehicle matched descriptions linked to a serious crime that had taken place just hours earlier in Woodstock, Virginia.

The injured individual, a 17-year-old male, was later identified as a suspect in a deadly shooting and stabbing that occurred in Woodstock. The suspect had suffered severe burns, prompting immediate medical attention from on-site EMS personnel. The suspect’s injuries were critical enough to require his airlift to the Washington MedStar Hospital Burn Center for advanced treatment.

Fire crews swiftly extinguished the fire involving the vehicle, but the cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Both the Warren County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriff’s Office are working diligently to uncover more details about the fire’s origin. Additionally, these agencies cooperate closely with the Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney to address the various legal aspects of the incidents in Warren County.

The suspect has already been charged with murder, alongside other related charges, by the Woodstock Police Department in connection to the earlier tragic events.

As the investigation continues, authorities urge anyone with information about the incidents to step forward. They can contact Assistant Fire Marshal Austin Cucciardo at 540-636-3830 or at acucciardo@warrencountyfire.com. Alternatively, those with tips can contact Sergeant Marc Ramey at 540-635-7100 or mramey@warrencountysheriff.org.
