Warren County High School Bands Celebrate the Season with a Joyful Christmas Concert

Published

on

On a chilly December afternoon, the Warren County High School Music Department warmed the hearts of families, friends, and faculty with its annual Christmas Concert, held Sunday, December 14, at 3 p.m. under the direction of Mr. David Dingess, with support from Principal Kenneth Knesh.

This year’s concert featured both the Jazz Band and Symphonic Band, showcasing a wide range of seasonal favorites and classical arrangements. From the upbeat rhythms of Feliz Navidad to the moving harmonies of In the Bleak Midwinter, the student musicians delivered a powerful performance filled with holiday cheer and musical talent.

For those who were unable to attend—or who simply want to relive the experience—the full concert has been recorded and is available for viewing below.

Additional Recognitions

Three students were honored for earning spots in the District Band Tryouts held at Kettle Run High School:

  • Aubrey Domenick
  • Liam Murphy
  • Rocean Smith, who earned Second Chair Trumpet, making him eligible for All-State Tryouts in February.

This year’s performance continues the school’s proud tradition of excellence in music, building on its recognition as a Virginia Honor Band in 2014–2015, 2016–2017, and 2018–2019.

Mr. Dingess closed the evening with heartfelt gratitude for the many people who make concerts like this possible. “I would like to sincerely thank our school administration for the steady support they provide throughout the year,” he said. “From scheduling to staffing, their behind-the-scenes work makes performances like this possible. I’m also deeply grateful to our custodial staff, who keep our building clean and concert-ready—especially on cold days like today.”

He extended a special thank-you to the Warren County Band Boosters, who volunteer time, resources, and endless energy. “They handle everything from fundraising to travel logistics, and our program couldn’t exist without them,” he shared. “We are always in need of new members, fresh ideas, and helping hands. If you’re interested in becoming involved, I’d love to talk to you about how you can be part of this musical journey.”

In a personal note, Mr. Dingess also thanked his wife: “Without her support, patience, and help behind the curtain, I simply couldn’t do what I do. She’s part of every success we celebrate on this stage.”

As always, the Warren County band program welcomes the continued support of parents, alumni, and community volunteers. “There’s a place for everyone here,” Dingess said. “If you’d like to help out—even just once—we’d be glad to have you.”

With the holidays underway and music still ringing in the rafters, the 2025 Christmas Concert reminded all in attendance of the joy, effort, and heart that go into every note. The students gave their best—and the community stood proudly behind them.

Until spring, may your days be merry and bright—and filled with music.
