Waverly “W.J.” Bailey (1939 – 2024)

Waverly “W.J.” Bailey, 84, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Panorama Memorial Gardens, 4917 Strasburg Road, Strasburg, Virginia.

Mr. Bailey was born in Remington, Virginia, on June 16, 1939, to the late Melvin M. Bailey and Nina Dyer Grimes.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Avery Bailey; his grandson, Tyler Bailey; and two brothers, Melvin Bailey Jr. and Morris Bailey.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Catherine Owens Bailey; three sons, Billy Bailey, Troy Bailey, and Don Bailey; sister Shirley Swann; thirteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
