Next Gen Blendz Barber Shop Brings Fresh Cuts and New Energy to Downtown Front Royal

on

A fresh new face has joined the Front Royal business scene—Next Gen Blendz Barber Shop, located at 214 E. Jackson Street, Suite 2. The shop is the brainchild of two of the youngest barbers in town, Marcus Turner and Joshua Mendez, who say their mission is simple: deliver top-quality haircuts in a relaxed, welcoming space created by men, for men—though everyone’s welcome in the chair.

“We started up at the beginning of the month,” said Mendez. “It’s a place where people can just chill, catch the game, get a hot towel shave, or a clean fade. We’re all about giving people a break from the stress of the day.”

A Modern Barber Experience with Old-School Vibes

Next Gen Blendz offers all the essentials you’d expect from a traditional barber shop—straight razor shaves, hot towel service, and classic cuts—but with modern flair. Their specialty? The “blurry fade” is a sharp, blended style that’s become a staple for today’s younger generation. But don’t worry if you’re not up on hair trends—Turner and Mendez work with all ages and styles.

“We do everything from skin fades and temp fades to short clipper cuts for women,” Turner said. “It’s not just about the haircut. It’s the experience.”

That experience includes steam facials, good music, a hot cup of coffee, and conversation that makes you feel like you’ve been coming for years—even if it’s your first visit. “It’s a family environment,” said Mendez. “Whether you’re 17 or 70, we want you to feel at home.”

From Dollar Clippers to Downtown

Both owners started cutting hair young, way before professional training.

“I started in elementary school, cutting my own hair, and eventually my stepdad’s,” said Turner. “Then in high school, I was cutting friends. After that, I went to barber school, and now here I am.”

Mendez had a similar path. “I got my first clippers at the dollar store when I was 12,” he laughed. “I started with myself, then word got around, and I was charging five bucks a cut in the neighborhood. That’s how it all started.”

Their combined experience, drive, and attention to detail have already made Next Gen Blendz a popular stop for local students, working professionals, and loyal clients looking for quality and consistency.

Appointments Encouraged, Walk-ins Welcome

Next Gen Blendz is open Tuesday through Saturday, with hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Clients are encouraged to book ahead using their convenient online app, available at thecut.co/download. While appointments help streamline the day, walk-ins are never turned away.

Their phone number is (540) 749-0636, and they’re active on social media, where you can check out photos of recent cuts, shop updates, and reviews from happy customers.

A Name That Speaks for Itself

So where did the name “Next Gen Blendz” come from?

“We bounced around some ideas,” said Turner, “but when we both landed on this name separately, we knew it was meant to be. It represents who we are—we’re the next generation of barbers bringing a new level of energy to the industry.”

From tight fades to sharp shaves, Next Gen Blendz is about more than looking good—it’s about feeling good, supporting local talent, and creating a space where every cut feels custom.

Whether you’re a longtime local or new to the area, Marcus and Joshua invite you to stop by, say hello, and see what the next generation of barbering looks like—right here in downtown Front Royal.
