A Night of Glamour for a Noble Cause: The ARC of Warren County Roaring Twenties Gala

Published

on

The ARC of Warren County-Virginia invites you to step back in time to the Roaring Twenties, a period of unparalleled elegance and festivity, all for an extraordinary purpose. Hosted at the picturesque Shenandoah Valley Golf Club, the Gala promises an unforgettable evening of casino games, Charleston dance lessons, and a chance to bid on spectacular auction items. The Gala is scheduled for March 16, 2024, and with tickets priced at $100, available for purchase here, every dollar raised will fuel the creation of a free adult day cooperative. This innovative program is designed to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who fall outside the eligibility for state-funded programs, bridging a crucial gap in our community.

In this Town Talk, Lynn Downs, the Executive Director of The ARC of Warren, shed light on the organization’s pivotal role over the past 50 years. As a beacon of hope and inclusivity, The ARC of Warren has tirelessly worked to ensure that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are integrated into every facet of community life, from workplaces to schools, embodying their tagline “a life like ours, a life like yours.”

The ARC’s dedication to mainstreaming and inclusion has led to significant achievements, such as the heartwarming “Night to Shine” event, part of a global initiative by Tim Tebow to celebrate people with disabilities. The overwhelming joy and community support showcased at the event underscores the positive impact of The ARC’s efforts.

Looking forward, the Roaring Twenties Gala is not merely a night of entertainment but a crucial fundraiser for the adult day cooperative. This program aims to offer a structured yet autonomous setting for socialization, learning, and engagement, at no cost to participants and their caregivers, targeting to raise $17,000 to ensure its success for a year.

The ARC of Warren stands as a pillar of advocacy and support, uniting volunteers, caregivers, and the broader community in a shared mission of love, respect, and inclusion. The upcoming Gala epitomizes the spirit of community and the collective joy of giving back.

As The ARC of Warren continues to champion the cause of inclusion and support, the community is warmly invited to partake in this noble effort. Whether by attending the gala, volunteering or spreading the word, each contribution helps pave the way for a more inclusive and compassionate world. For more information on sponsorship opportunities, please reach out to The ARC at thearcofwarrenva@gmail.com. Let’s come together to support a life like ours, a life like theirs, and make a difference one step at a time.
