Domestic Dispute in Shenandoah Farms Results in Arrest for Stabbing Incident

Published

on

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a chilling emergency call from the Shenandoah Farms area in Warren County, Virginia. The call reported a violent stabbing incident, sending deputies rushing to the scene.

Upon their arrival, officers found a male victim on the porch of the residence, bleeding heavily from a deep wound to his arm. Swift action from a deputy helped stabilize the man. Using a tourniquet, the deputy managed to control the bleeding until paramedics from Warren County Fire and Rescue arrived. The victim was then taken to Winchester Medical Center, where he received further treatment and was later released.

CLARA LOPEZ

Further investigation into the case revealed that the victim and the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Clara Isabel Lopez from Fairfax, Virginia, were in a relationship and living together at the residence where the incident occurred.

Clara Lopez was found at the scene and was transported to Warren Memorial Hospital for examination to ensure she had no injuries of her own. After being medically cleared, Lopez was arrested for felony Aggravated Malicious Wounding. She was then transported to the Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren (RSW) Regional Jail without incident.

Lopez appeared before a magistrate shortly afterward, where it was decided that she would be held in custody without the option of bond. Her court date has been set for October 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Due to the serious nature of the charges, Lopez will remain in custody until her hearing.

While details are currently limited, authorities confirmed that the incident involved an altercation between two people who shared the same home. Police have not yet disclosed what led to the stabbing. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office has stated that, because of the ongoing investigation, no additional information is being released at this time.

Community members with further information about the incident are urged to contact Investigator C. J. McDaniel of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at (540) 635-7100 or via email at cmcdaniel@warrencountysheriff.org.

Clara Isabel Lopez is described as a 5’5” Hispanic female with brown eyes and brown hair. She faces a very serious charge under Virginia law: Aggravated Malicious Wounding, as per § 18.2-51.2. This charge carries significant consequences if convicted, as it is considered one of the more severe forms of assault under the state’s criminal code, involving the intent to cause serious injury or permanent impairment.

Stabbings and other acts of domestic violence are often indicative of deeper issues within a household, and cases like these highlight the potential dangers involved. The community response to such incidents is crucial, both for ensuring justice and for providing support to victims of domestic violence.

Authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. More information may become available as this case progresses, particularly at Lopez’s upcoming court appearance.

For now, the Sheriff’s Office focuses on uncovering the details of this unfortunate situation. They have emphasized their commitment to protecting the community and holding those responsible for violent acts accountable under the law.
