Warren County Confirms Loss of Video Footage from Board of Supervisors Meeting

Published

on

Warren County officials have confirmed the loss of approximately 40 minutes of video footage from the December 10, 2024, Board of Supervisors meeting. The meeting, which included a heavily attended public hearing on the creation of a library board, lasted nearly seven hours, with 115 residents signed up to speak.

To accommodate the extended session, the Warren County Department of Technology (WCIT) requested an extension of the video recording window from its video services provider, Granicus. The initial window, set from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., was extended to 5 a.m. Granicus confirmed the extension at 9 p.m. However, a technical malfunction caused the recording to end prematurely, resulting in the loss of footage from 10:34 p.m. to 11:18 p.m.

WCIT had a local backup of the recording, which it uploaded to Granicus for processing, but the missing segment could not be recovered. Granicus has since apologized for the disruption, citing an unexpected conflict in the recording system’s parameters during the extension process.

In a statement, Granicus explained that their team has identified the issue and is taking corrective actions, including improved monitoring, additional testing of recording systems, and procedural updates for handling live session extensions.

Warren County Administration and WCIT are working with Granicus to determine if contractual changes are necessary to prevent future disruptions. “We remain committed to transparency and accountability with the public,” said a county spokesperson.

The corrected video, with the available footage, is expected to be posted on the county website by the end of Friday, December 13. Officials and Granicus have assured residents that measures are being taken to avoid similar issues in the future.
