Model Rockets Soar at Sky Meadows State Park

Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane, Virginia, invites families, science enthusiasts, and curious minds to “Come Fly with Me: Model Rockets” on January 25, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hosted in the park’s historic area, this event is an exciting opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of model rocketry with the Northern Virginia Association of Rocketry (NOVAAR).

Visitors will enjoy watching model rockets blast into the sky (weather permitting) while discovering the science and engineering behind these creations. NOVAAR members will showcase a variety of rockets and share their expertise about how physics, math, and design come together in this high-flying STEAM hobby.

While no private rockets will be allowed for launch, attendees are encouraged to explore the exhibits and chat with the club’s experts about the technology behind these thrilling mini spacecraft. The mix of science and fun is sure to inspire kids and adults alike.

Standard parking or Sky Meadows State Park admission fees apply, but there’s no additional cost for this event. Registration isn’t required, though it’s encouraged for those who want to secure a spot. Children are welcome to attend, making this a perfect family outing.

Mark your calendar for additional dates if you can’t make it in January. “Come Fly with Me: Model Rockets” will also be held on April 26, July 26, and October 25, 2025.
