Twilight Hike at Sky Meadows State Park

Get ready to explore the breathtaking beauty of Sky Meadows State Park in Virginia this winter with a special Twilight Hike on January 31, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. As the sun sets over the Blue Ridge Mountains, you’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in a magical transformation of nature from day to night.

This guided hike, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts of all experience levels, covers 2 to 2.5 miles of easy-to-moderate terrain. Stroll through lush forests, sweeping meadows, and open fields as the fading sunlight paints the landscape in shades of orange and gold. Twilight is a time when wildlife becomes more active, offering hikers a chance to glimpse animals stirring in their natural habitat.

Sky Meadows State Park isn’t stopping with just one Twilight Hike! If you can’t make it on January 31, 2025, there are two more chances to experience this enchanting evening adventure:

  • A Valentine’s Day Twilight Hike on February 14, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Bring someone special and enjoy the romance of the Blue Ridge Mountains at dusk.
  • Twilight Hike on March 7, 2025, also from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. As winter fades into spring, see the landscape begin to awaken with new life.

These hikes follow the same easy-to-moderate trail of 2 to 2.5 miles, winding through forests, meadows, and open fields while offering breathtaking views of the sunset. Twilight remains one of the most magical times to connect with nature, and these dates are sure to create memorable evenings for couples, families, and nature lovers alike.

Event Details

Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear sturdy footwear suitable for hiking, and bring water or snacks for the journey. The hike will last 1.5 to 2 hours, giving you plenty of time to soak in the serene atmosphere. Leashed pets are welcome to join in the adventure, making it a great outing for the whole family.

Spaces are limited for this unforgettable event, so registration is highly encouraged. Standard parking or admission fees apply, with a $10 fee per vehicle. No additional fees are required for the hike itself. Children are welcome to participate.
