David “Dave” Lee Toothman (1937 – 2025)
David “Dave” Lee Toothman passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 87.
Dave was born on June 16, 1937, in Fairview, West Virginia, to the late Burley J. and Mary (Mitchell) Toothman. He spent most of his life in Front Royal, Virginia, before residing in Canal Winchester, Ohio, for the past five years.
Surviving Dave is his devoted daughter, Luan Bonner (Herb) of Canal Winchester, OH; son, D. Alan Toothman (Linda) of Woodstock, VA; stepson, James Muncy (Sandy) of Bentonville, VA; sister, Connie Rudacille; and grandchildren, Justin Toothman (Anna), Lindsey Toothman (Aaron) and Ella Toothman.
Dave was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Morrison, and brothers-in-law, Harvey “Hap” Morrison and Bryan Rudacille.
Dave graduated from Warren County High School, where he was a talented and celebrated athlete who played football, basketball, and baseball. His athleticism earned him a scholarship to Wake Forest University.
He worked for Avtex Fiber, Inc., and concluded his career with the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority. He spent many years refereeing for high school football and basketball games across Virginia and volunteering as a Little League baseball coach. Dave was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast.
He enjoyed the camaraderie at the Front Royal Moose Lodge, where he was a lifelong member.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, with a Graveside Service at 12:30 p.m. in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester.
